Cosener's House
The Cosener's House is on an island in the River Thames within the original grounds of Abingdon Abbey, located near the centre of the town of Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England. It is run as a conference centre with accommodation by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). The house takes its name from the Cuisinier or Kitchener, the person at the Abbey who was responsible for the provision of food. Abingdon, Oxfordshire Abingdon (or archaically Abingdon-on-Thames) is a market town and civil parish in Oxfordshire in Southern England. It is the seat of the Vale of White Horse district. Previously the county town of Berkshire, Abingdon is one of several places which claim to be Britain's oldest continuously occupied town.[1] It was transferred from Berkshire to Oxfordshire in 1974. Abingdon School Abingdon School is an English day and boarding public school for boys situated in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, previously known as Roysse's School. In 1998 a formal merger took place between Abingdon School and Josca’s, a preparatory school four miles to the west at Frilford. Since September 2007 Josca’s has been known as Abingdon Preparatory School with both schools becoming part of the Abingdon Foundation. There are strong connections with the nearby School of St Helen and St Katharine in Abingdon.
